Navy Sonar Testing Range (NC)

Loggerhead turtles at risk

SELCs maps show that far more loggerhead turtles populate these waters than the Navy estimates in its Draft Environmental Impact Statement. In fact, the NC Sea Turtle Sanctuary, where the turtles return to lay eggs, makes this region particularly important. Furthermore, these maps show that turtles spend more time swimming in the proposed sonar testing site than the Navy understands.
