SELC Board Member Wins National Award

Our friend and longtime SELC Board of Trustees member, Allen McCallie, is being recognized by the Trust for Public Land with its highest national honor, the Douglas P. Ferguson award, for his conservation vision and leadership.

Allen McCallie is, first and foremost, the nicest guy you would ever want to meet.  Moreover, as an attorney, committed community volunteer, and trustee of the Lyndhurst Foundation and Benwood Foundation, Allen has played a major hand in making Chattanooga the lovely, vibrant city that it is today.  His achievements include helping to realize an array of major conservation projects: the Tennessee RiverWalk, South and North Chickamauga Creek Greenways, Aetna Mountain, Coolidge Park, Renaissance Park, Tennessee River Gorge, Stringer’s Ridge, and the Lula Lake trail system.  Congratulations, Allen, and thank you from all of us who love the natural treasures of Tennessee and the Southeast.
