SELC Files to End FHWA Stonewalling

As we continue to challenge Corridor K, our attempts to acquire documents from the Federal Highway Administration under the Freedom of Information Act have hit some walls. To rebut NC and TN departments of transportation claims that federal standards require these highways to be larger than necessary, SELC requested documents from FHWA, which responded by dragging its feet and imposing inflated processing fees: part of a persistent, years-long pattern of stonewalling by the FHWA when we and other groups request public information about highway projects that the agency is legally required to provide. SELC’s legal team has filed suit to end this abuse of the law.
