New look, same SELC

We’re excited to introduce you to a new look for SELC, as well as our new website.

Since SELC was founded more than 35 years ago, we’ve grown as an organization— from three lawyers in Charlottesville, Virginia to 90 attorneys and 170 staff members in nine offices across the South. We champion this beautiful, complex region because we live here and we love it. Taking on the toughest challenges to protect our air, water, land, wildlife, and the people who live here, we’ve consistently defied the odds to win.

Now across our world we face greater environmental challenges than ever before. Transforming our region away from fossil fuel to clean energy, righting environmental injustice, stopping pollution, reforming transportation, and protecting nature—When we solve these issues here, we lead the way for others. That’s why we say: Solutions start in the South.

We wanted to capture all that in our new look, celebrating who we are and what we have accomplished while staking a clear vision for our future and the urgent work ahead.

As SELC evolves and grows stronger, so does our logo. In the shape of our new logo, you’ll find a connection to the leaf of a dogwood tree, whose flowers were our symbol for our first 35 years. Just like the iconic dogwood, we’re rooted in the South.

Our new website features stories from our region that motivate and inspire us every day, or you can even find ways to get involved and help us tackle our most pressing issues. We hope when you leave the site, you’re inspired by all the ways we’re working to solve our most complex environmental challenges, starting right here in the South.
