Environmental Justice for All Act moves forward

Special message from Chandra Taylor-Sawyer, leader of SELC’s Environmental Justice Initiative

Last week, the House of Representatives’ Natural Resources Committee voted the Environmental Justice for All Act out of committee. This is a key step forward for the most comprehensive Congressional bill ever to advance environmental justice, health equity, and climate justice.

If enacted, the Environmental Justice for All Act directs agencies to consider how multiple polluting sources harm communities of color, before issuing a permit, and to dedicate new funding programs for communities who need it most.

Moving this landmark legislation forward is critically important to address environmental injustices that communities of color throughout the South and nationwide have been unduly burdened with for far too long.

If you haven’t urged your elected officials to support the Environmental Justice for all Act yet, I would encourage you to take action and speak out in support of this bill.

Urge Congress to support the Environmental Justice for All Act.

If you’ve already taken action and would like to encourage your friends and family to join you in speaking out to support this bill, you can share a message on how to take action on your social media.

We must continue to push for the passage of the Environmental Justice for All Act.

With thanks for your ongoing support,

Chandra Taylor-Sawyer
Leader of SELC’s Environmental Justice Initiative
