EPA proposes two more rollbacks on national coal ash rule

Last week, the EPA announced its plans to allow more toxic coal ash to be spread and used as fill dirt throughout communities across the United States.

“Once again, this EPA has sided with coal ash polluters instead of protecting people,” SELC released in a statement. “EPA’s plan allows more toxic-laden coal ash to be put unlined in and near communities and waterways, exposing more people, rivers, lakes and drinking water reservoirs to more coal ash pollution. We hope EPA doesn’t move forward with this and other dangerous proposals to expose more Americans and more waterways to more coal ash pollution at industry’s request.”

SELC will continue to fight for cleanup of coal ash pollution.
