Jeff Gleason takes the helm as Executive Director and President of the Southern Environmental Law Center April 1. He steps in for Founder Rick Middleton, who established the organization 33 years ago and built SELC into the powerhouse it is today.
The challenges ahead are significant but the organization has never been stronger, and we are ready to go above and beyond.Jeff Gleason, Executive Director and President
28 years ago—to the day—Gleason joined SELC to lead the organization’s newly formed Clean Energy and Healthy Air Program, where he played an instrumental role in the shift across the Southeast away from coal-burning power plants and the resulting pollution, and towards a cleaner, more affordable energy future.
He then acted as SELC’s Deputy Director and Director of Regional Programs for nearly two decades, acting as the day-to-day architect of SELC’s impressive track record while the organization grew to the largest environmental organization in the region with more than 80 attorneys.
As Gleason looks to the work at hand, his vision is clear.
