SELC files appeal in Monroe Bypass case

Maintaining that the Monroe Bypass is not the solution to traffic congestion on U.S. 74 in Charlotte, SELC filed an appeal today of a court decision allowing the project to resume.

SELC filed the appeal with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit, reiterating that the NC Department of Transportation and Federal Highway Administration violated federal law by ignoring more cost effective solutions to congestion on U.S. 74 and misled the public about the true impacts of the bypass on environmental and human health in the region.

The appellate court may hear the case in March 2012.
