SELC is protecting the Flint River

As part of the Georgia Water Coalition, SELC worked to defeat a bill in the 2013 state General Assembly that would have affected the Flint River. While the bill contained a provision allowing for so-called “flow augmentation” projects in parts of the river basin, the bill would have eroded traditional riparian rights and seemed designed to benefit specific consultants pursuing these types of projects. It also would have allowed for Aquifer Storage and Recovery (ASR) projects, which the Coalition opposes.
