SELC promotes living shorelines in Alabama

Our second Living Shorelines conference was held in Mobile, AL, in April. Representatives from our partner groups, universities, and federal and state agencies, such as the Corps of Engineers and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, reached a consensus on a common definition of the term “living shorelines.” These stakeholders also charted a path forward for encouraging more living shorelines in Alabama. Through future workshops they want to educate and train the public, contractors, and consultants on how to construct viable living shorelines.
