Alexandra Werner-Winslow
Communications Manager (VA)
Alexandra works closely with SELC’s Virginia attorneys to manage communications work in her home state, as well as regional work on wildlife, solar and gas. She draws on her experience producing media across the South to write commentaries, tell stories of impacted people, and publicize litigation and advocacy work in our region. Previously, she worked for the Southern Poverty Law Center, Appalshop, and as a journalist in Mississippi.
Time spent in some of the places with the most intense environmental extraction — the Mississippi Delta, the Alabama Black Belt and the Appalachian Mountains in Eastern Kentucky — helped ignite her passion for environmental justice in the South.
She has many favorite places across the Southeast, but her current favorite view is the one of Appleberry Mountain that she can see from her backyard outside Charlottesville.
