Claudine Ebeid McElwain

Senior Communications Manager (VA)

Former producer, editor at NPR’s Morning Edition, All Things Considered

 M.A., Emerson College

 B.A., James Madison University

 With SELC since 2016

As Senior Communications Manager in SELC’s Virginia office, Claudine plays a critical role in shaping and sharing the organization’s work in the Commonwealth. In particular, over the past few years she devoted much of her time to stopping the destructive Atlantic Coast Pipeline, a goal that was achieved when developers cancelled the project in July 2020.

In addition, Claudine created and hosts SELC’s podcast, Broken Ground, which digs up environmental stories across the South. Episodes have featured Southerners tackling everything from coal ash contamination and solar on schools to sea level rise along the coast. Claudine honed her audio skills during her years producing and editing daily news shows for National Public Radio, including Morning Edition.

Now living in Charlottesville, she’s grateful to have easy access to Shenandoah National Park, a place she says never fails to help her breathe easier.

The key to SELC’s success is our people. Consider joining our team to defend this region’s air, water, and natural treasures.
