Lewis DeHope
Associate Attorney
Lewis researches and drafts complaints, briefs, comment letters, standing declarations, and Freedom of Information Act requests. Southern Environmental Law Center work that inspires him the most is protecting our invaluable coast, wetlands, and waterways from pollution and overdevelopment.
“SELC does very important work in a region largely left alone by other environmental organizations,” Lewis said.
The South suffers disproportionate environmental harms, and SELC is often the first and best line of defense for people and the environment across our six states.
Lewis DeHope
Originally from San Ramon, Calif., in the East San Francisco Bay Area, Lewis gained experience in environmental law through an externship at the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office, Environmental Protection Division. He also interned at the National Environmental Law Center in Boston, and at SELC.
Lewis loves the small streams of the Great Smoky Mountains, where he frequently went to fly fish during college.
