SELC Asks State to Reconsider Bonner Bridge Permit

SELC asked the Superior Court of Wake County, N.C., to reverse an agency’s decision not to allow a challenge to the coastal permit issued to NCDOT in the Bonner Bridge project. NCDOT’s failure to consider and acknowledge the devastating environmental affects of the bridge violated the Major Coastal Area Management Act. The planned replacement span over Oregon Inlet ignores continual washouts of surrounding roads and would be disastrous for coastal wildlife.
