Offices and Staff

SELC is the largest environmental organization in the Southeast, with 80 attorneys working out of nine offices throughout our six states and on Capitol Hill.  This structure enables us to combine region-wide perspective and strategy with local presence and place-based action.

SELC has two offices in Charlottesville: our Headquarters (where you will find our executive, finance, development/marketing, and program communications teams) and our Virginia Office with a team of highly qualified and dedicated attorneys serving the wide range of environmental needs of the Commonwealth.

Chapel Hill, NC

SELC’s Chapel Hill office is in the LEED-certified Greenbridge Building. This is our statewide office, with a team of highly qualified and dedicated attorneys serving the wide range of environmental needs of North Carolina—while also furthering SELC’s larger, regional program goals.

Asheville, NC

SELC’s Asheville Office is in the Drhumor Building, in the city’s downtown historic district. With a team of highly qualified and dedicated attorneys, this satellite of our state headquarters office in Chapel Hill serves the land and people of western North Carolina, with a special focus on protecting the rivers, streams, and forests of the Southern Appalachians.

Atlanta, GA

SELC's Atlanta team of highly qualified and dedicated attorneys serves the environmental needs of Georgia—while also furthering SELC’s regional program goals and lending a hand with important cases and projects in Alabama.

Birmingham, AL

SELC’s Birmingham Office is bringing the expertise, power, and resources of this regional organization to the service of Alabama. We have a team of highly qualified and dedicated attorneys in Birmingham who are closely coordinating with our Atlanta office—and with SELC’s law and policy experts throughout the region.

Charleston, SC

SELC has a team of highly qualified and dedicated attorneys working in historic downtown Charleston. They are able to focus on local actions that address the special needs of the Lowcountry—while also bringing the expertise, power, and resources of SELC’s regional organization to bear on the most important environmental issues affecting the state of South Carolina.

Nashville, TN

SELC’s Nashville Office is bringing the expertise, power, and resources of this regional organization to the service of Tennessee. Our highly qualified and dedicated local team of attorneys closely coordinates with SELC’s law and policy experts throughout the region. Our Nashville office is located in Gulch Crossing, a LEED-Gold-certified building in Nashville’s historic Gulch neighborhood.

Richmond, VA

A closely-coordinated satellite of our Virginia Office, the Richmond Office enables SELC to have a more effective voice in the General Assembly and with state agencies. This office has a particular focus on the related issues of transportation and land-use, which are critical to the future appearance and environmental health of the Commonwealth.

Washington, DC

Having an office on Capitol Hill enables SELC to be a more effective voice for the South in Congress and with the national regulatory agencies. Our DC-based legislative-affairs team coordinates closely with SELC’s law and policy experts throughout the region.
