SELC challenges NCDOT’s flawed environmental review

SELC is challenging the government’s defective environmental review for the controversial 22-mile Garden Parkway toll highway. We are arguing that the analysis of the proposed road was fundamentally defective and presented a misleading picture of the costs and benefits of the project. NCDOT failed to disclose that the billion-dollar highway would destroy numerous homes and communities, fragment wildlife habitat, pollute the Catawba River basin, and add to the area’s air pollution. Our lawsuit comes just months after conservation groups were successful in challenging the Monroe Bypass, another NC Turnpike Authority Project.
