SELC weighs in on harmful new Route 460 proposal

SELC has submitted comments on the Draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (SEIS) for the proposal to build a wasteful and destructive new Route 460 in southeastern Virginia.

The letter highlights the severe impacts to wetlands, streams, forests, and farms of the proposal, points to the lack of a demonstrated need for the new road, and suggests targeted improvements to the existing Route 460 as the most cost-effective and least destructive alternative.

SELC has been working on the proposed new Route 460 for over 15 years, providing comments and meeting with federal and state decision-makers along the way.
